The School of Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) awards several fellowships each year, in the form of one-time topping grants, to MSE graduate students. These awards are generally given to PhD students who have finished their core courses and passed their qualifying exam. Preference will be given to the students who have also defended their proposal successfully and have been admitted to PhD Candidacy.
Nominations for these fellowships are based students’ academic performance in coursework (have earned a grade point average of 3.5 or better on a 4.0 scale) and research, thesis advisor’s recommendation. Students who are actively involved in shaping the MSE community and fostering MSE and GT values, put exceptional efforts into their TA duties, and/or have provided significant service or leadership in other MSE-related co-curricular or extracurricular activities will be prioritized.
Exceptional MS students may also qualify for some of these awards. Recipients are selected by the School Chair or his or her designee/s. Award recipients are generally selected in early March of each year. Below is the listing of the current fellowships available.
Please note: Students do not have to apply for these fellowships. Students are selected based on the criteria listed for the fellowship.
