Solution Grown Perovskite Single Crystals for Enhanced Optoelectronic Properties and High-Performing Photodetectors and Scintillators
Abstract:
Perovskites have been a class of materials of great interest for many researchers due to their excellent optoelectronic properties. Perovskites have shown carrier mobility and long carrier diffusion lengths. Perovskites have also benefitted from a high level of composition tunability and photoluminescence in the visible range. Due to these superior properties, perovskites have been used in a wide variety of applications. To improve on these properties further, there has been research done to make these perovskites as single crystals. By growing single crystals, this significantly reduces the number of defects within the material and can improve the already outstanding properties of the perovskite.
The works aims to optimize the solution -based growth of a wide variety of perovskite compositions. Through the optimization of different parameters and investigating the effect of different additives, a broad range of high-quality crystals will be made. The crystal quality will be assessed using a variety of characterization techniques that can provide information on defect density, carrier lifetime, as well as crystal structure. Once the growth process has been optimized, focus will shift to developing perovskites with more complicated compositions. This includes perovskites with dopants at the B-site to increase the photoluminescence behavior as well as increase the Stokes shift. Perovskites with chiral cations will also be investigated and characterized. By changing these compositions, the functionality of these perovskites will increase. Finally, doped chiral perovskite single crystals will be synthesized. The doped chiral perovskite single crystals will then be used in photodetector and scintillator devices and characterized for their performance. These devices will have a unique performance due to their combinations of dopants and chiral cations.
